On February 1, 2023, members of the Ladysmith Health Care Auxiliary proudly made a donation to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation for $25,000, to be used towards the purchase of two new Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC’s) for medications. The Cowichan District Hospital Foundation has committed to raising $320,000 to purchase these two units for the Cowichan District Hospital located in Duncan, BC.
The donation cheque was gladly accepted by Jerry Doman – Chairman of the Board (pictured bottom left with his grand-daugher Avaya), Board member Denise McKinlay (pictured far right) and Naomi Low, Executive Director (pictured kneeling front right).
Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC’s) are specialty locked cabinets that safely and efficiently store, track, and dispense medications to Nurses, based on verified Physician medication orders. They also report on usage, medication waste, and controlled substances monitoring and analytics.
These cabinets will transfer to Cowichan’s new hospital once it’s complete. For more information on the hospital replacement project visit Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project | Island Health.
