The Ladysmith Health Care Auxiliary is pleased to donate $20,000 to support LaFF’s Food Security Initiatives and Family Resource Program.
Jacqueline Neligan, the Executive Director for LaFF recently commented “Last year alone we made 9,239 food equity connections including our Pantry, meals, bags of groceries and culturally significant foods within the
diverse community we support. Just this past year visits to food banks increased by 31% in British Columbia. We have felt this increased need at LaFF. Good nutrition is the foundation of learning. And our region is certainly challenged in terms of the vulnerability of our children in their preparedness to enter kindergarten. If we (LaFF) can provide nutritious food and share food security/equity teachings using our staff and 138 volunteers perhaps the children will be better prepared to learn, and the caregivers can learn skills that will help end some of the dependency on food banks. This work can only continue through the support of generous donors like the Ladysmith Healthcare Auxiliary. We thank you for being such a good community partner and for your ongoing support.”
