How does a garden grow? In 1984, when $1,000 was bequeathed to the Ladysmith Health Care Auxiliary in honour of Doris Gallagher, who had lost her battle with ovarian cancer, the seeds were planted to create a memorial garden on the grounds of the Ladysmith Community Health Centre. Work parties transformed scrub land into a place of solitude and relaxation for patients and their families. Contributions and years of hard work like that make it possible for the Doris Gallagher Memorial Gardens to brighten our lives today during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The volunteers invite you to visit the garden and bathe in its beauty. The Doris Gallagher Memorial Garden is located in the northeast corner of the Ladysmith Community Health Centre grounds. Gardens grow with love, devotion and the helping hands of dozens of volunteers. We would like to thank the volunteers , both past and present who work from March to November, maintaining these lovely gardens.
